“And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

“Forever” is quite an enormous word to define as we have yet to experience it.

However, the word “house” is easily definable because we have experienced their appearance and purpose. What is typically most appreciated about a house are the people within it.

What will make living in the house of the Lord amazing is its owner, the Lord.

We will dwell with Him forever.

“Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life.”

For those under the Shepherd’s care, two qualities are promised to be with us during each day of our earth life.

The Lord, our Shepherd, has supplied them for us as faithful encouraging travel companions.

They are goodness and mercy.

“You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows.”

The practice of anointing people with oil began in the eastern part of the world. Weary travelers would apply oil on their head and arms to refresh themselves. Shepherds would place oil on sheep to repel insects.

Oil in the bible represents the Holy Spirit. We have been graced in abundance through God’s spirit to succeed and accomplish all God has given us to pursue.

He has given us comfort.

Our cup is overflowing.
